    • Karana sarira – causal body ( anandmaya kosha or blissful body )
      • Karana sarira or the causal body is merely the cause or seed of the subtle body and the gross body
        • Zygote or embryo
          • It is nirvikalpa rupam, undifferentiated form
          • It originates with avidya, ignorance or nescience of the real identity of the atman
    • Sukshma sarira or the subtle body is the body of the mind and the vital energies
      • it is the transmigrating soul or jiva,
      • it is the cognitive body which includes
        • cognitive senses
        • cognitive muscles
        • mind
      • it is composed of three veils or covers ( MAYA )
        • Pranamaya Kosha (Vital breath or Energy),
        • Manomaya Kosha (Mind and five senses),
        • Vijnanamaya Kosha (Intellect)
    • Sthula sarira – gross body ( vegetative body ) OR Annamaya kosha ( food body veil or sheath )
      • Karmas of past life
      • sambhava (birth),
      • jara (old age or ageing)
      • maranam (death), and
      • the waking state.
      • it is Anātman which is different from atman or non-self
